Ceremonial handover of
an AED defibrillator to the kindergarten
August 8, 2023 was a special day to celebrate saved lives.
Representatives of ADPLA, Stryker and a delegation of the occupational health and safety department representing MAN Starachowice plant donated an AED defibrillator to the »Akademia Kwadrat« school team. The manufacturer of defibrillators gave our rescued employee the opportunity to choose a public place where the AED will be placed, and he chose this facility.
The spread of AED defibrillators in public spaces is very important – it is an investment in human life. The operation of these devices is intuitive.

»Keep Pace and Work Safely Throughout
the Four Seasons« is underway
On April, 2023 we started the campaign »Conscious load handling«
Celebrating the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, we organized workshops for production employees from different areas of our plant. Production employees were familiarized with the structure and mechanics of the spine, they also took part in exercises related to the manual transport of loads (e.g. lifting, putting down, carrying). In addition, the workshops were enriched with a herniated disc simulator, a spinal load simulator, etc.
Administrative employees took part in numerous workshops with a physiotherapist. During workshops, participants under the supervision of a physiotherapist carried out self-massage using lacrosse balls, which they are now able to use every day after work to eliminate muscle tension and break painful trigger points – it’s extremely important in an office work. Employees also had the opportunity to listen to lectures on the structure and mechanics of the spine, prevention of incorrect postures and habits during long-term work in a sitting position at the computer, the physiotherapist also showed them exercises to prevent muscle tension and pain in the spine and back.
On June, 2023 the summer edition of the campaign under the slogan »Drinking water is the new trend« took place.
One of the activities was a workshop on body hydration. During the workshops, the participants could check the level of hydration of their body using a specialized device, they also received the necessary information on how to maintain proper hydration of the body in the summer season. After receiving the cumulative results from the conducted tests, a different state of dehydration was found in most of the respondents – 76.5%. The remaining 23.5% of the respondents properly hydrate their bodies. The conducted workshops turned out to be extremely important, because they showed how much we need to improve in this matter.
Participants of the second workshop on that day verified their reflex using a dedicated trainer. The lecturer described the most common distractors affecting the driver’s reaction time while driving: alcohol, dehydration, mobile phone, talking to passengers or even intense thinking. During the workshop, the trainer also demonstrated the negative impact of alcohol on the driver’s reaction time using alcohol goggles.
All workshops participants received water bottles with the MAN logo, which will help maintain the proper level of hydration at work.
On September, 2023 another edition of the health and safety campaign took place, under the slogan »Safe from head to toe«.
We discussed the topic of personal protection during a series of interesting workshops. An experienced trainer proved why it is worth using PPE for our safety. During the workshops, participants learned whether cut-resistant gloves really cannot be cut, what the anti-puncture insert in shoes provides, whether safety glasses really protect against splinters, and whether a helmet protects the head against impacts.
We discussed these and many other interesting issues related to the use of personal protective equipment at interesting workshops addressed mainly to employees who use personal protective equipment at work.
For administrative employees, a webinar with a qualified dietitian was organized. He talked to the participants about proper hydration of the body, and presented some useful information about nutrition, including recommended amounts of meals and their optimal distribution during the day.
800 participants in total were gathered by the spring, summer, and autumn editions of the occupational health and safety campaign »Keep Pace and Work Safely Throughout the Four Seasons«.
Introduction of vending for PPE
In August 2023, we completed the process of implementing of 17 vending cabinets for personal protective equipment at the Man Bus Starachowice.
Installing vending cabinets is a big technological step forward in terms of dispensing PPE. Thanks to them, each employee, after tapping their card to the reader of the nearest cabinet, will be able to immediately download the product they need without having to report the need to the manager or coordinator.
All this to make access to personal protective equipment for Man Bus employees easier and faster.
Each and every team member, at all levels, must be aware of their role and personal responsibility in the practice of their duties.
Individuals should feel involved and demonstrate and preventing unsafe conditions and safe behaviors.
Demonstrate a constructive attitude towards safety, based on transparency and an open dialogue.
