Proactive Occupational
Safety through
Targeted Dialogues
During our CPI surveys, we took the time to incorporate some feedback sessions to understand how we can assist segment leaders in raising safety awareness within cost centers. Feedback showed that handouts on key behaviors, routines, and self-care would help segment leaders inform their teams.
Our main goal with this initiative is to shift from reactive to a proactive behavior among our employees. Instead of just responding to problems, we want to predict potential risks and positively influence our employees´ safety awareness through sensitization and open discussions.
Through Hand Outs on various safety relevant topics, we are planning to add short safety briefings into our regular dialogues. This approach will make safety a regular part of our workday.
Consistent reminders and regular touchpoints ensure that employees and leaders continously monitor their own behavior. With short safety talks, we aim to update our employees´ safety knowledge without disrupting the operational process. For example, the standardization of pre-operational safety checks is an initiative in this direction.
A key part of our project is introducing a new anchor routine. During the dialogues, handout presenting relevant safety topics matching the specific work area will be showcased.
This pool of topics will be available to all managers.
Marcel Hertel
Head of Occupational Safety
We, the Salzgitter occupational safety team, stand for safety and health at work. Our aim is to promote and establish behavior-oriented safety that goes beyond the concept of prevention.
Legal obligations are only the basis of our work; we see it as our ethical duty to create a safe and healthy working environment for our colleagues.
Through close cooperation with the specialist departments, managers and employees and open communication, we ensure that occupational safety is not seen as an isolated issue, but as an integral part of our corporate culture.
EVERY INDIVIDUAL COUNTS! A safe working environment can only be created through the commitment of each individual. Acting responsibly is the key. Only if everyone consistently looks out for themselves and their colleagues and consistently addresses unsafe behavior can we create a safe working environment that protects and promotes us all.
